The second Chakra (Sacral) Sanskrit name is Svadhisthana, meaning sweetness or creativity. The colour is Orange. Element is water. The age in which it is developed is 8-14 years. This chakra initiates expansion of one’s individuality. It’s location at the sexual organs reflects the instinctual need to develop a specific personality, but also to reach out to others. Our psyche seeks to express itself through the second chakra: How are we to live and share our passions? Our dreams? Our desires? Can we do this with integrity?
The Hindu symbol is a six- petalled lotus containing a white circle, symbolized the water, and a light blue crescent moon within which is a “makara “, whose fishtail coils like the Kundalini. This water creature represents sexual desires and passions-a danger only when ignored or repressed.
As with other Chakras, it can be in a state of ‘too open’, balanced or blocked. So how does this Chakra affects us?
When the second Chakra is too open, or when it is spinning too fast, it causes emotional imbalance manifesting as a fantasist, manipulative, sexually addictive. When this chakra is blocked, sluggish or does not spin, it makes a person over-sensitive, hard on oneself, feeling guilty for no reason, frigid or impotent. And finally when this chakra is balanced (i.e., it maintains an equilibrium and spins at correct vibrational speed), it results in a personality which is trusting, expressive, attuned to ones own feelings and creative.
The physical dysfunctions caused by this chakra are are Impotence, frigidity, bladder and prostate problems, lower back pain.
Some exercises that can help heal this chakra are:
1. 1-Pelvic Rock Exercises
2. 2-Leg Tuck
3. 3-Alternative Leg drop
Other than the exercises affirmations have considerable effect in healing the chakras. Some affirmation that you can practice are:
1. I am totally happy and fulfilled.
2. I am worthy of love and sexual pleasure.
3. I am prepared to honour my body and feel happy about my sexuality.
4. I am Good.
5. I have right to express my love and desires to myself and others.
One final word of advice. Just because you feel you suffer from the symptoms above does not necessarily mean that you have a blocked or dysfunctional second chakra. Before you practice any exercise or affirmation for your healing, it is always advisable to consult a CHEK Holistic Coach who is trained to understand the root cause of your issues and suggest zone exercises/affirmation customised to your needs.
