The Root Chakra is the first Chakra and is located at the base of the spine. This Chakra is associated with physical and emotional security. Physical security is security of our own self and comes from a secure surrounding; emotional security is derived from association or belonging to a group. In the modern world, a lot of people think it of less significance.  It was needed in the olden days – more so in tribal environment.  And hence, while treating my clients I find this Chakra considerably weaken or blocked in a majority of cases.

There is a strong case for the Root Chakra even today.  In the current economic climate when people are losing their job, facing credit crunch, and migrating to different areas of the world for work, we are being uprooted from where we belong.  How you react to the current economic climate is directly related to your Root Chakra.  While some people do not face a lot of challenges; others face many imbalances.  Psychologists have proven that when babies fed on demand, they learn to trust the fact that that their needs will be met. When their demands are not met, they feel disappointment in the society. Babies left to cry learn to distrust and expect disappointments, believing their desires do not deserve to be met. This can affect later their life and relationship.

This is more to do with unconditional love, nourishment and caring nature. People who carry this attitude are strong in this chakra. They do not hesitate to ask for help and very easily associate themselves with wherever they are.

So what can you do to take control of this chakra? To get that Mother Nature inside you and a sense of belonging?
